A new Turkey Day, a new list of things we're grateful for

November 26th, 2009 by Zee

This is our third Thanksgiving as parents and we're still finding new things to be thankful for when it comes to our kids.

Here's what we're grateful for this year:

• No longer having to deal with baby bottles, bottle brushes, bottle racks and breast pumping paraphernalia.

• Cheerios — the most versatile food since ketchup.

• Whoever invented the disposable diaper, because doing laundry for two little ones is hard enough as it is.

• Being able to keep the girls  happily busy with things like empty cardboard boxes and paper towel rolls.

• Seeing our 2-year-old light up when we mention the simplest things, like ice cream and stickers.

• Seeing our 1-year-old light up when we walk into the room.

• Whatever mechanism it is that makes children want to rest their heads on your chest when you read to them.

• The need for babies and toddlers to nap during the day. It's amazing how much you can accomplish in an uninterrupted hour.

• Our daughters' auntie, who is the only reason we're able to still go on dates.

• Knowing the girls will have each other, in good times and bad, for the rest of their lives.

What are some things you're grateful for today?
